ICON’s Clinical Pathology laboratory forms an integral part of the company’s clinical pharmacology
service. Clinical samples are analysed on-site in a fully equipped pathology laboratory. The
clinical pathology laboratory has its focus on providing a rapid turnaround of samples, with an
emphasis on high quality, providing real-time support for critical safety issues for on-going
studies.
All main clinical analysers and instrumentation are linked directly into a centralised clinical
pathology data management system, enabling seamless transfer of data both within ICON and, where
required, to external client systems.
The laboratory is UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) (BS EN ISO/IEC 17025) accredited.
In addition to providing support for ICON’s in-house clinical pharmacology activities, the
clinical pathology laboratory routinely provides support for studies run elsewhere, supporting
phase I, II and III studies.
