Best advice for sponsors:
“Err on the side of conservatism.” That said, sponsors need to employ physicians who understand clinical research, specifically risk/benefit, and who are willing to accept the responsibility that goes with being the monitor of product safety. While no one wants an unsafe product on the market, it is not in the public’s best interest either to withhold the approval of new drugs or withdraw them unnecessarily. An ongoing critical and unbiased evaluation of data properly obtained throughout a product’s life cycle is the only way to protect the public health, bring new products to market and avoid costly litigation.”
“Pharmacovigilance gives you the opportunity to impact many lives in a very important way.”
What she enjoys most about working at ICON?
Absolutely, it is the people. There is a great sense of teamwork involved in every aspect of my job.
Family time:
My husband, Dr. Stephen Zimniski, is Director of both the Pharmaceutical Product Development Program and the Pre-Med Program at West Chester University. We have a son, Nicholas (11) at home and Steve has a grown daughter, Kristen, who lives with her husband in Virginia.
Being a wife and mom takes up a lot of time. We read together, laugh a lot, play tennis and ski. On my own, I enjoy interior decorating and scrapbooking. Nick and I volunteer at our local library.
