Mr. Ciaran Murray, Chief Executive Officer

Background:

Ciaran Murray is the Chief Executive Officer of ICON. He joined ICON as Chief Financial Officer in 2005, serving in that capacity until his appointment as Chief Executive.  Prior to joining ICON, he held a number of senior financial positions in global organisations including Kraft Foods. Dr. Steve Cutler, President, Global Clinical Research Serviecs

Expertise : The Global Clinical Research Market

Background:

Dr. Steve Cutler was appointed Group President, Clinical Research Services in November 2011.

Steve has over 23 years’ experience within the pharmaceutical and CRO industry and joined ICON from Kendle where he held the position of Chief Executive Officer, having previously served as Kendle’s Chief Operating Officer. Prior to Kendle, Steve spent 14 years with Quintiles where he served as Senior Vice President, Global Project Management; Senior Vice President, Clinical, Medical and Regulatory; Senior Vice President, Project Management - Europe; and Vice President, Oncology - Europe as well as regional leadership positions in South Africa and Australia. Prior to joining Quintiles, Steve held positions with Sandoz (now Novartis) in Australia and Europe.

Ms. Elizabeth Thiele, President ICON Late Phase and Outcomes Research

Expertise : The Late Phase and Outcomes Research in Clinical Trials.

Background:

Elizabeth Thiele is President of Late Phase Services & Outcomes Research.   Since joining ICON in 2002 she has held positions of progressing responsibility within the realm of business development including sales, proposals, contract management and business information.

Elizabeth has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare and pharmaceutical research, including business development and operations. Prior to joining ICON, she held various positions with contract research firms, public health entities, and educational institutions.  She has extensive experience in developing strategic relationships between pharmaceutical companies and external providers such as CROs.

Mr. Tom O'Leary, President ICON Central Labs

Expertise : Global Central Laboratories

Tom was appointed President of ICON Central Laboratories in January 2010. 

Prior to this he held the position of Global Head of Data Management at ICON Clinical Research. He joined the company in Feb-2001 as Manager of Data management in Dublin. He subsequently went on to set-up ICON's process improvement initiative "IMPROVE" and returned to Data Management to become EU VP of Data Management before becoming Global Head of Data Management in 2006.

Dr. Mario Rocci, President ICON Development Solutions

Expertise : Bioanalysis and Clinical Pharmacology

Background:

Dr. Rocci joined ICON as the former CEO of Prevalere Life Sciences, Inc. (a wholly owned subsidiary of ICON plc) in 2008. He served as Executive Vice President of Global Bioanalytical Sciences, overseeing ICON’s expanding Bioanalytical Sciences group, until his current appointment as President, ICON Development Solutions.

Mario's 29 years of industry experience includes positions such as Head of the Laboratory of Investigative Medicine and Research Associate Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University, where he was part of a team of Clinical Pharmacologists conducting Phase I-IV clinical studies on drugs undergoing development. Dr. Rocci was also a Clinical Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.

Actively involved in the industry, Dr. Rocci served as the 2004 President of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), a professional society of over 12,000 members, having previously been elected to a three year term on the AAPS Board of Directors. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and is Chairman of the Board of the Product Quality Research Institute (PQRI). He has authored over 125 scientific publications and has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical sciences and the regulatory requirements of the FDA.

Mr. Colin Stanley, President, DOCS

Expertise : Resourcing for Clinical Trials

Colin Stanley is President of DOCS. He has over 14 years of experience working in the CRO industry.
He joined ICON as a Project Manager in 2001 and has since held a range of positions of increasing responsibility. Since January 2011 Colin held the position of Chief Operating Offer for DOCS returning from Asia where he was Vice President of Clinical Operations, Asia Pacific with responsibility for all projects and staff in the region. Previous to this he was Director of Clinical Operations based in the US and in 2005 he led IMPROVE, a global Initiative focused on process improvement across all aspects of ICON’s business. He has also held various positions in Data Management including Head of Data Management, Europe. Colin started his career in Data Management at Quintiles.

Mr. Ted Gastineau, President, ICON Medical Imaging

Expertise : The role and implementation of medical imaging in clinical trials

Background:

Ted is President and co-founder of ICON Medical Imaging (formerly Beacon Bioscience). Prior to Beacon, Ted co-founded Intelligent Imaging, a research company specialising in imaging, which was acquired by Quintiles in 1997. From 1997-2000 he served as Senior Vice-President and Business Unit Head within Quintiles.

Ted has more than 18 years experience in imaging for drug development and has worked closely with industry, FDA, and academia to establish best practices in place today.

Mr. Kris Gustafson, Sr. Vice President, and Global Head of Interactive Technologies and Lifecycle Sciences, ICON Clinical Research

Expertise : Interactive technologies and observational research services

Background:

Kris was promoted to his current role as Global Head of the Interactive Technologies business unit and the Life Sciences business unit in January 2007. He has been with ICON since 2000 in multiple roles and positions.

Prior to ICON, Kris was President and cofounder of Electronic Trial Management Technologies, a technology company specialising in IVR and IWR solutions for clinical trials, which was acquired by ICON in 2000. From 1995-1999 he served as Senior Director of Information Management at Applied Logic Associates. From 1990-1995 he worked as a Mechanical Engineer in the Nuclear sector.
