Dr. Mario Rocci, President

Dr. Mario Rocci joined ICON as the former CEO of Prevalere Life Sciences, Inc. (a wholly owned subsidiary of ICON plc) in 2008. He served as Executive Vice President of Global Bioanalytical Sciences, overseeing ICON’s expanding Bioanalytical Sciences group, until his current appointment as President, ICON Development Solutions.

Mario's 29 years of industry experience includes positions such as Head of the Laboratory of Investigative Medicine and Research Associate Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University, where he was part of a team of Clinical Pharmacologists conducting Phase I-IV clinical studies on drugs undergoing development. Dr. Rocci was also a Clinical Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.

Actively involved in the industry, Dr. Rocci served as the 2004 President of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), a professional society of over 12,000 members, having previously been elected to a three year term on the AAPS Board of Directors. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and is Chairman of the Board of the Product Quality Research Institute (PQRI). He has authored over 125 scientific publications and has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical sciences and the regulatory requirements of the FDA.

Dr. Rocci earned a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics and a B.S. in Pharmacy from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
 

Ms. Laura Johnson, Sr. VP Global Clinical Pharmacology Operations

Ms. Laura Johnson has over 20 years experience in the pharmaceutical and device industry. In 2009 she was appointed Senior Vice President Global Clinical Pharmacology Operations. Previously she held the position of Vice President and General Manager of ICON Development Solutions – U.S., responsible for the growth and development of operations in the division’s Ellicott City, Maryland and Redwood City, California offices. Joining ICON in September 2003 when ICON acquired GloboMax LLC, Ms. Johnson has held positions with increasing responsibility including Director, Business Development, Senior Director, Business Development and then Vice President of Business Development for the global ICON Development Solutions division.

Prior to joining ICON, Laura's career experience includes 20 years in key sales, marketing and business management positions with GloboMax LLC and firms in the integrated voice/data technologies and surgical products/medical device business sectors.

Laura earned a BS degree from Virginia Tech and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Loyola College.

Mr. Michael Fedock, VP Finance

Michael Fedock joined ICON in 1999 and currently oversees Finance, Contracts/Legal Affairs, Mergers & Acquisitions and General Commercial Affairs.   
 
Prior to joining ICON, Michael was a Contract Manager for Novascreen Bioscience Corp. which specializes in Bioinformatics and Receptor binding assays within the Drug Discovery domain. Michael started his career as a scientist holding research positions at SmithKline Beecham, Rhone-Poulenc Rorer and Moss Rehabilitation Hospital.
 
Michael has a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Drexel University and a M.B.A. from the University of Baltimore. Michael has been a member of DIA’s Finance & Outsourcing Special Interest Area Community (SIAC) since 2000 and was Chairman of the SIAC from 2001 to 2003.

Dr. Steven Herne, Sr. VP Global Business Development

Dr. Steven Herne joined ICON Development Solutions in 2010 as Senior Vice President of Global Business Development. With over 18 years experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry, Steven spent the last 12 years focused intensively on Business Development and Marketing.
 
Steven holds a BSc in Pharmacy, MSc in Pharmaceutical Medicine and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Analysis. 
 
Starting his professional career as a Senior Research Scientist (Mass Spectrometry) and then Study Director (Bioanalysis) -- Steven moved into business development where he excelled in positions of increasing responsibilities at major CROs. He's held executive roles that spanned the development continuum -- including Business Development Manager for Ph II- IV,  Senior Director of Business Development Europe Phase I and Bioanalysis, and his most recent appointment prior to joining ICON as a Senior Director Business Development, overseeing Phase I-IV.
 

Mr. Brian O'Dwyer, Senior VP, Global Bioanalytical Services

Brian O'Dwyer is Senior Vice President, Global Bioanalytical Services responsible for managing the strategic direction and growth of our global bioanalytical business.
 
Brian has over twelve years of experience in clinical research, having joined ICON in 1999 from Kerry Group plc, a multinational food ingredients and consumer foods company headquartered in Ireland.

Prior to his current role, Brian held various positions with ICON including Group Vice President of Finance and Company Secretary for ICON plc, Vice President and General Manager of ICON’s Clinical Pharmacology Unit in Manchester, UK and most recently Brian served as Vice President of Bioanalytical Development where he managed the post-acquisition integration of Prevalere Life Sciences, Inc into ICON whilst overseeing its growth and harmonization with our laboratory in Manchester.

Brian qualified with a business degree from Dublin City University in 1996 and received his accountancy qualification in 1998.
 

Mr. Eric Humes, Director, Quality Assurance

Eric Humes has over 19 years experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry. In 2008, he joined ICON and has served as the Global Director of Quality Assurance for ICON Development Solutions since June 2009. Previously, he has held leadership positions in both CRO and Sponsor companies supporting GMP, GLP, GCP and ISO quality and Regulatory compliance functions for Allied Research International, Bioanalytical Systems, University Pharmaceuticals of Maryland and Unigen Pharmaceuticals.

Eric is currently an active member in the Drug Information Association (DIA) and Society of Quality Assurance (SQA) professional societies. Eric served as a contributing author on the DIA’s Peach Initiative and currently serves as Chairman of the SQA Education Committee. Eric has a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
 

Mr. Charles Rapier, Global Director of Information Technology and Informations Systems

Responsible for the delivery and governance of strategic and commercial systems, Charles joined ICON in 2007 via ICON's acquisition of Ovation Research Group, where he served as Director of Information Technology. Since joining ICON, Charles has served as Regional Manager, IT Operations and Associate Director, IT Americas for the ICON Clinical division prior to his current role within the ICON Development Solutions division.

Charles has over 15 years of Information Technology and Information Systems experience, 8 of which have been spent in the healthcare arena. Charles has authored or co-authored several technology centric publications, holds many of the industry's most coveted certifications and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) which is responsible for setting many of the national and international computing standards.

Charles holds a BS in Computer Science with honors from Regis University and is an MBA candidate at Loyola University.
